Robinson Secondary High School Symphonic Band Selected to Perform at The 78th Annual Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago

We are thrilled to share that the James W. Robinson Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at the 78th Annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL December 18-21, 2024.
The Midwest Clinic is a prestigious international event, attracting hundreds of applications from ensembles around the world. Applications and recordings are rigorously assessed by a panel of renowned musicians from the collegiate and professional band world who choose only a select few to perform for the Clinic’s 18,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 40 countries. We are deeply honored and excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity for our students and community.
The Robinson Secondary Band program has long been recognized as one of the strongest in the nation. The Robinson Middle School Symphonic Band appeared at the Midwest Clinic twice under the direction of Linda Gammon in 1993 and 2000, and the Robinson High School Symphonic Band performed in 1994 under the direction of Stan Schoonover. We are so pleased to be able to continue this tradition of excellence in 2024 under the direction of Andrew Loft and Katie Dever as the first Virginia high school band to perform at the Midwest Clinic since 2006.
We are so proud of the 2023-2024 ensemble for earning this honor. Thank you to our 2024 seniors for your leadership and outstanding musical contributions, particularly in your performances at the Virginia Music Educators Conference and the Music For All National Festival this year. We hope to make you proud and honor your dedication as we prepare for Chicago.
We also want to thank and recognize our incredible elementary and middle school colleagues, clinicians, private lesson teachers, administration and amazing parents for supporting us on this journey. We will continue to make you proud.
