Congratulations to the High School Symphonic Band, Concert 4, and Concert Band 3-Blue for receiving superior ratings at the District Band Festival. As a result of the superior ratings at Festival, and the superior rating the Marching Band received at the State Marching Festival in October, Robinson has been selected as an Honor Band of Virginia by the Virginia Music Educator's Association. This is the 14th consecutive year Robinson has been a Virginia Honor Band! Robinson is a double Blue Ribbon winner, as the Middle School was also selected as an Honor Band of Virginia!

Congratulations to the 227 high school and orchestra members who traveled to Atlanta on April 25 - 29. This trip and competition was very successful and a completely enjoyable experience for the students, chaperones, and staff. 2000 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, December, 2000
Eighty-one seventh and eighth graders of the Middle School Symphonic Band were invited to perform at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. The band along with directors, guest soloist Senior Chief Musician Roger Behrend, and parent chaperones traveled by air to the Windy City the week before Christmas. The 45-minute performance for which the students began rehearsing before school started in August, included ten selections and three guest conductors: David Shaffer also the composer of the music he conducted, Stanley R. Schoonover, Music Specialist, Fairfax County Public Schools, and Curvin G. Farnham, Director of Bands, University of Maine. The trip included meeting other composers of music the students performed, an evening at Disney Quest, time to roam the vast exhibit hall full of instruments and everything musical, and a visit to Chicago's Field Museum.

VMEA Performance, November, 2000
The Robinson Middle School Symphonic Band performed for the Virginia Music Educators Association conference, held annually at The Homestead. The program included selections the band would perform in December in Chicago for the Midwest Clinic.
